How many lumens for which job? The guide
Lumens measure the total light emitted. A number alone means nothing: it depends on the area to cover and the mounting height. Here are the benchmarks we use to advise our customers.
300 to 1’000 lm — marking and spot-lighting
The register of paths and single points: an SGL-06 bollard (500 lm) guides a path, an SWL-12 wall light (1’000 lm) handles a door or stairs. The goal is not to flood, it is to see where you step.
2’600 lm — the covered space
The SHL-08 kit and its 2’600 lumens match a double carport, a bus shelter, a cabin room: enough to move, load and do occasional work under 20–30 m² of roof.
3’600 to 11’250 lm — yard and facade
Flood-light territory. SFL-01 (3’600 lm) for a small yard or access; ELS-08 (6’200 lm) for a standard yard at 3–4 m; PRO and PLUS (9’200–11’250 lm) for large yards, bays and facades up to 6 m.
40 to 100 W LED — the street
Beyond that, you no longer count flood-light lumens but street-light classes. ELS-DP-40 at 4–5 m for paths, DP-60 at 6–7 m for residential streets and car parks, DP-100 at 8–10 m for main routes and large areas — spaced 15–25 metres depending on the model.
The golden rule: height first
Doubling the mounting height divides ground illuminance by four. Before buying more lumens, check that the planned height is right — and when in doubt, send us a dimensioned sketch: we reply with a layout plan.
